Wildlife
We are privileged to have some incredible wildlife in the area. There are Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles close by and, if you’re lucky at the right time of year, you might spot the Black Throated Divers on the loch. Otters, red squirrels, pine martins and wild cats are some more of the special wildlife in the close vicinity.
Sea Eagles
Sea eagles, also known as white-tailed eagles, have become a prominent feature of Loch Shiel's ecosystem in the Scottish Highlands. These majestic birds, with their impressive wingspans reaching up to 2.5 meters, have been successfully reintroduced to the region after being driven to extinction in the UK in the early 20th century.

Black Throated Divers
Black-throated divers, also known as black-throated loons, are a striking and elegant bird species that grace the waters of Loch Shiel. These migratory birds are easily recognizable by their sleek bodies, distinctive black throats, and checkered black-and-white plumage.

Pine Martins
Pine martens, with their slender bodies and rich, dark fur, are a notable presence in the woodlands surrounding Loch Shiel. These arboreal mammals, part of the weasel family, are known for their agility and dexterity, often seen darting through the trees or leaping between branches.
